It was selected as a finalist, and I was really thrilled to see it in the July/August 2016 issue.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The apron was created in layers with fabric paints and my own designed stencils and masks. Below are some pictures of the process and some details. Please let me know if you have any questions.</span><br />

<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I've been having a lot of fun this month creating tessellations and carving stamps for #CarveDecember. Since I have been asked several times how I created them, it seems it would be nice to share :).</span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I hope these steps help you! Enjoy!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><b><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Step
1. </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Go to a website where you can create
your own tessellations</span></b></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">A couple of my favorite sites:</span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You can create tessellations right on your browser - no software to download or buy - </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/Tessellate/" target="_blank">shodor.org</a></span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Software that allows you to create curved tessellations - you can download a demo version and get a screenshot of your tessellation - <a href="http://www.tesselmaniac.com/tess/TesselManiac.html" target="_blank">TesselManiac</a> </span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> NOTE: This is the best one I have tried so far and I love it</span></div>
<span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span></span>
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
2. Play around with the shapes, until
you see something you like</b> </span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You can try making something specific or just play
- use your imagination very much like seeing images in the clouds. I just go for the outlines and work out the
inside of the tiles afterwards.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
3. Save the tessellation or tile </b></span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I
would recommend saving the tessellated screen for sure - it will help you
figure out how to print it later.</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0SSKCZyvH7e4GSkgDRJVxhQAXlkOKOhOaGH_-Zqb7IdUecTHuDkhvFoN2IG1xnAEhkPZwot1_ZdoGN8pVNjZrwemz-AEuSvbO8gE4YXUXODHqf8OSncui1oYCXeE5Mij3cfUKkDQsHzE/s1600/mirror-xmas-tree.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0SSKCZyvH7e4GSkgDRJVxhQAXlkOKOhOaGH_-Zqb7IdUecTHuDkhvFoN2IG1xnAEhkPZwot1_ZdoGN8pVNjZrwemz-AEuSvbO8gE4YXUXODHqf8OSncui1oYCXeE5Mij3cfUKkDQsHzE/s320/mirror-xmas-tree.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;">This is a simple one... pretty easy to figure out how to print.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvoAeGhO3A03d8I4haf5mU1YjQexHV7tpRvRQ7icsqSsbBNHeub1jSnf49jKE0XSthiccZ5vp8inxT_v2RhyphenhyphenGtIFRPEO-J1KnpOq-1Oufda9WQCPdYa-t0Zk4FGxI8_lIsLsmk-WSNJNA/s1600/triangle-n3-hummingbird.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvoAeGhO3A03d8I4haf5mU1YjQexHV7tpRvRQ7icsqSsbBNHeub1jSnf49jKE0XSthiccZ5vp8inxT_v2RhyphenhyphenGtIFRPEO-J1KnpOq-1Oufda9WQCPdYa-t0Zk4FGxI8_lIsLsmk-WSNJNA/s320/triangle-n3-hummingbird.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #351c75; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Others can be a bit more complicated, like this one.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /><b>Step
4. Print the tile the size you want</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Be careful that you don't skew the image when you scale it to print - the
proportions have to be exactly the same or it won't work.</span><br />
<span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: #351c75;">Step
5. Using Tracing paper, go over the outline of your tile with pencil</span></b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #351c75;">You want
to trace it as accurately as you can so the tiles will fit together as
expected.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
6. Design the inside of your tile</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You can do it different ways - you can draw
directly on the tile you outlined on the tracing paper (if you are really
confident), or you can use another piece of tracing paper or transparency over
the tile, until you get something you like.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">This is where your creativity and imagination will come in. For instance, the bird above in step 3 turned into this - not much different, but the details help:</span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCRdFgGMfyhE3U1J61aisjCQiSLt9AB4njtkWFxUyrxfmAgHTUlzqVIffr2e038ohRGTbBwfS6j7r9SMAYKbpFF0PiSfxyrEWN0xKcwdQOk4rnMhRNfsS4j8rFW1YlvoTykmDAk3B1E28/s1600/hummingbird.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #351c75;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCRdFgGMfyhE3U1J61aisjCQiSLt9AB4njtkWFxUyrxfmAgHTUlzqVIffr2e038ohRGTbBwfS6j7r9SMAYKbpFF0PiSfxyrEWN0xKcwdQOk4rnMhRNfsS4j8rFW1YlvoTykmDAk3B1E28/s320/hummingbird.jpg" width="295" /></span></a></div>
<span style="color: #351c75; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
7. Transfer the tile with the complete design to the carving
material</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
8. Carve the stamp - be really attentive
to the edges of the stamp</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I always
start with the edges as if I mess up, there is no point in going further - it
won't work.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There is another option -
you can carve inside the edge, and then leave a little border when
printing. This makes it a bit easier to
print, and it can give quite a nice
effect. So, don't throw your stamp away
if you mess up on the outside edge - you can still use it :) <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">See the space between the trees? <br />I carved inside the line. <br />Compare to the print of the bird in step 6 <br />where I carved against the outside line.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</span></div>
<span style="color: #351c75;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0in;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>Step
9. Print your awesome tessellation tile</b> </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Refer back to your tessellated printout (step 3) to figure out how to print it :)</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #351c75; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And do let me know if you have any questions. I'd love to see what you come up with, so feel free to share :).</span></div>

<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge #270</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2016/05/weekly-challenge-270.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to use the tangle Skye created by Margaret Bremner. I really enjoyed this one, and this one I'm sure will be better with practice. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My first attempt from memory (after seeing the steps) was not good - the strips were not connecting properly, so I decided to give it another try. This time I didn't do the little angled lines on the short ends, and that made it possible for me to adjust as needed to make the lines connect. Also, I started with an "S" instead of backwards "S" so then had to start on the left instead of on the right. All in all, it came out fairly decent, I think, but like I said I think it can really improve with practice.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP2GmX-Eok7TwcvLyCPa-LFLwk6-qh-DBuy1L83cc8SGanQEueubPUY6O1YfV3mMJbmQJ_SR0Cs2T_1G5vgXFcnwpsFZJucG4X2tcImqV2s9kZjm2dvViMJt5zLGgy9C5huNcJ5baN7tM/s1600/diva-challenge-270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="395" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP2GmX-Eok7TwcvLyCPa-LFLwk6-qh-DBuy1L83cc8SGanQEueubPUY6O1YfV3mMJbmQJ_SR0Cs2T_1G5vgXFcnwpsFZJucG4X2tcImqV2s9kZjm2dvViMJt5zLGgy9C5huNcJ5baN7tM/s400/diva-challenge-270.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Work on Scarves</span></h3>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm enjoying seeing my work on the VIDA scarves, so I have been looking at some of my work differently to see if they might look good as scarves. Also, because the scarves are large and you need really high definition files, I have been playing around and spent many hours last weekend doing some experiments. Ended up figuring out that it would really help if I knew Inkscape better (free vector software), so started going through some tutorials on YouTube to learn it better.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here are some of the ones I have created recently. I hope you enjoy them:</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">These first two were inspired by a carved flower on a stone wall in India (when I visited last year). I hand carved a stamp to create the pattern and then fiddled wtih it to create the pattern in larger scale for the scarves. Both are using the same pattern, just with different colors and scale.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img alt="Indian Flower" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/574110a197285dfd24a28e12_1024x1024.png?v=1463894190" width="285" /><a href="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/5740cce3ac42e897707635ee_1024x1024.png?v=1463904960" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Indian Flowers" border="0" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/5740cce3ac42e897707635ee_1024x1024.png?v=1463904960" width="285" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">These 2 are square scarves, so I used works that might not do so well as a repeating pattern. Both were created with the same hand-carved stamp (leaves repeating pattern); the left on paper with ink, watercolors and colored pencils; the right one on fabric with inks, and acrylics.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<img alt="Leaves and Moon Abstract" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/574cedf14fef59fc7594e376_1024x1024.png?v=1464798747" width="285" /><img alt="Leaves and Moon" height="400" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/574a4fe4da7c838c4651048b_1024x1024.png?v=1464495400" width="285" /><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And the last one I just added last night from an old piece, that needed a bit of work. I used the same hand carved stamp as for the ones above and really had fun. Can't you tell I love the moon? :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<img alt="Blue Moon" height="640" src="http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0312/5973/products/574f88f629f9d1ec19e46e66_1024x1024.png?v=1464877952" width="456" /><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you are interested in any of these, you can check them out on my page on the VIDA site (<a href="http://shopvida.com/collections/voices/marta-harvey" target="_blank">here</a>). You can get 10% off your first order with the code VIDA10, and if you get one of my designs, you would get a $25 VIDA gift certificate (for the first 10 people).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I ordered one with my tangled mountains, and can't wait for it to arrive. I received a free one from another artist and the $40 scarf is really well made and so very soft! I was very impressed.</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge #269</span></h3>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Diva's challenge this week (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2016/05/weekly-challenge-269.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to try out the newly released tangle Ellish. You can find the step outs for Ellish <a href="http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Zentangle-Newsletter---New-Tangle--New-Products.html?soid=1101168872594&aid=4ffhxrpA9Yo" target="_blank">here</a> in the Zentangle Newsletter.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You are seeing my very first attempt at this one, and for some reason I really do not like the tile, but decided to post it anyway. This proves that sometimes you really need to practice to get something right :)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsEpIm6PPCKmjfcvIg2X96bY1xMXvkgHS_VFBdDaRl0GeE-OIPO80ltUp3ABoeY9k2NLdB8THRE03NQqZD2zkpG8Siw6sij64R_XVb0K2VdWzrAuZ7vCZHMAwwHePKylWmNmJYTZW-hPI/s1600/diva-challenge-269-a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsEpIm6PPCKmjfcvIg2X96bY1xMXvkgHS_VFBdDaRl0GeE-OIPO80ltUp3ABoeY9k2NLdB8THRE03NQqZD2zkpG8Siw6sij64R_XVb0K2VdWzrAuZ7vCZHMAwwHePKylWmNmJYTZW-hPI/s400/diva-challenge-269-a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Magazine Publishing</span></h3>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I love Cloth Paper Scissors and have had a subscription ever since my niece gave me a 1-year subscription many years ago. If you don't know the magazine, there is a challenge in every issue and once in a while it grabs me, and I have to participate (and hope my submission gets published). No matter what, I always learn lots when creating my submissions, so even if they don't end up getting accepted, I had fun :) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This one was to design and cut a stencil and submit a 6x6 in work made with the stencil. My piece showed up in the latest magazine - May June issue, and I was thrilled to see it. This is the piece (below) and if you have a copy, it is on page 88.</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">This is the dirty stencil after creating the piece. <br />I even lost a little piece of it (top center flower)!</span></td></tr>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I also submitted an apron for the next issue, so we will see if that one will make it as well :).</span><br />

<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Tessellated Fish</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Escher's tessellations are incredible, I love them and find them very inspiring. Mine are completely amateurish, but I don't care... I love creating them and it is always a huge challenge to make them fit perfectly, especially when you want to make it a repeat pattern.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My latest try was with the fish I hand-carved (<a href="http://martaharveyart.blogspot.com/2014/06/challenge-and-carvings.html" target="_blank">here</a>), but I wanted to make them a little rounder and lighter, so I fiddled with them, the design and size until I got to this:</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">After making the repeat pattern, I tried it on the VIDA scarves, and loved how they looked - actually was very surprised :) <a href="http://shopvida.com/collections/voices/products/tessellated-fish-2" target="_blank">Here</a> is one:</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Challenge 267</span></h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I was determined to do <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.ca/2016/05/weekly-challenge-276.html" target="_blank">the challenge</a> early this week :). After a troublesome day at work, I decided tonight would be a very good night to work on it and try to relax :). So... this week we had a DUO tangle - to use only 2 tangles in the tile: Poke Root and Drupe. Drupe was new to me and I had not used Poke Root in a long time, so it was fun even though I'm clearly out of practice :)</span><br />

I loved the website, the products, and the idea of the company. So, I decided to give it a try. <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge was fun - you can see it <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2016/05/weekly-challenge-266.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I believe I have tried this tangle before, but... still lots of fun and I'm sure it came out differently than the last one. I always mess it up on the first try... put too many lines on the diagonal :)</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Challenge #263</span></h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It's been quite a while since I have posted and participated in the challenge. Life gets so busy at times that when you need it the most you don't even get a chance to relax and create.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2016/04/weekly-challenge-263.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was quite fun... even though I just saw it today, I just had to do it :). I'm not thrilled with it, but since it is the first I have created in weeks, it will have to do. I still had fun, so that's what's important.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFn1p1WqbLZLAgQTiUf9b5c7kAvqyMb0OYvIV4jfescGJUQ7S7fLERtLBhmg0tejkPTmT2IFD5rTIVyTCBNIh7rmcbnVe4BuLXT4hjZRjSZWf6kqmUfJoa0P-_RfKJwJJZRXuPtgPtYR8/s1600/diva-challenge-263.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFn1p1WqbLZLAgQTiUf9b5c7kAvqyMb0OYvIV4jfescGJUQ7S7fLERtLBhmg0tejkPTmT2IFD5rTIVyTCBNIh7rmcbnVe4BuLXT4hjZRjSZWf6kqmUfJoa0P-_RfKJwJJZRXuPtgPtYR8/s400/diva-challenge-263.jpg" width="391" /></a></div>

<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><b>The Sunny Window</b></span></h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In our bedroom we have a wall of windows; I absolutely love them as I love light. The only problem is that the semi-circular window lets in a lot of light as it does not have a shade. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSXgKsxfp6QSeVjCdIm9f8JUa2Uu_gtOmHoHNXrrVp1fhrDEDoTFiljPtIVpfQAlyJqAnjmxUdwGtlrIchxbciBF_hfyfE6I88RDXzuRxM2W0X7LZ9nfECMpSFqRkm4-QrmKCztDTsJrM/s1600/20160409-window.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSXgKsxfp6QSeVjCdIm9f8JUa2Uu_gtOmHoHNXrrVp1fhrDEDoTFiljPtIVpfQAlyJqAnjmxUdwGtlrIchxbciBF_hfyfE6I88RDXzuRxM2W0X7LZ9nfECMpSFqRkm4-QrmKCztDTsJrM/s400/20160409-window.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So, I have been thinking about what I could do to block some of the light, but not too much. Here is my solution - window art made with used tea bags, and lightly painted with Inktense. We will see if it will last :) If not, then at least I loved using recycled materials.</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge #252 - Tangle Within a Tangle</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2016/01/weekly-challenge-252.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to create your string from a tangle, and then tangle inside it :) How fun is that?!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I decided I definitely was not going to look at what others did before creating my tile; I was afraid everyone was going to pick my tangle :). I started out by going through my catalog of tangles - nothing but a bunch of step-outs in a ring binder and a bunch of 2x2 inch samples of tangles. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I put some possibilities aside, and then went with the one I thought would be most fun. I hope I don't go through everyone's entries and find out everyone chose Poke Root!!</span><br />

<span style="color: #741b47; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In December I carved a bunch of stamps to play along with Julie Fei Fan Balzer and a bunch of other people for the #CarveDecember challenge (<a href="http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com/balzer_designs/2015/11/carvedecember-2015-is-coming.html" target="_blank">here</a>). I did not carve one stamp a day (just did not have the time), but did carve as many as I had time for. It even made me get on Instragram to share, encourage, and get encouragement :). I had a lot of fun.</span></div>

I'm still trying to get organized after a very busy week off, so I'm only posting the challenge in this blog post and will share more next week.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I found the challenge really fun as I love both of the tangles: Auraknot and Diva Dance. If you haven't tried them, I would recommend them - they are both easy and fun.</span><br />

I started out folding a piece of paper, cutting it and then unfolding it. Then used a similar design for my stamp.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For some reason the paper looked cool, but when I first printed my stamp it looked really ugly and not like a snowflake at all! I was really disappointed!</span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">When I was about to forget all about the stamp, I thought it might look cool if I printed over it, but with it rotated 60 degrees. Aha!!! Now I actually like it!! At it will always look different, that's for sure!</span><br />

<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/12/weekly-challenge-247.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to use Tina's tangle "African Artist". I had to keep looking at the step-by-step instructions to make sure I got it. Even so, I messed up on this one, but decided to post the first attempt, anyway.</span></span></div>
<div>

<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">I also am not that thrilled with the tile; it feels very heavy to me. Oh well... better luck next time :). I did enjoy the tangle after a while, and am definitely going to try it in different ways to see if it doesn't feel so heavy.</span></span></div>

<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">You might have seen the stencil I designed and cut last week; I decided to do another one this week and then try both on the gel plate.</span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">I had a lot of fun with them, and took a lot more prints than I had intended. Isn't that always the case with the gel plate? It is for me as I keep thinking "what if" I did this or that, and next thing you know I have prints all over the place :).</span></span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge was a wonderful guest post by Dilip Patel (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/11/weekly-challenge-246.html" target="_blank">here</a>). I could spend hours on this one and try all different things, but since instead of hours, I have minutes... I went with a Bijou tile (2x2 inches).</span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have been thinking about designing a stencil of a repeat pattern. So, on Sunday, I went at it and this is what I came up with. I think I will have a lot of fun with this one.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge #245</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm so glad to be posting again! It means I found a bit of time to create :). Sometimes work takes over my life, and this was one of those times - I sure hope it is over for now!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/11/weekly-challenge-245.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to go back to basics and Hollibaugh - you can see the link to the step outs in the Diva's challenge page. I wanted to do something I had not done before, so I drew three strings and made those my intersecting lines. I hope you like it; I obviously had fun with it :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<h3>
<span style="background-color: white; color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Gel printed and Tangled Boxes</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm trying to use some of the paints and materials I've had for years, rather than keep buying new ones. So, in an effort to use some of the acrylic paints I had, I used my small gel plate (3x5 in) and some of my stencils and had a lot of fun with a couple of boxes. Then I started tangling on the box (as you can see I'm not finished yet).</span><br />

I loved the theme of the challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/10/weekly-challenge-241.html" target="_blank">here</a>), and remember being in awe of an artist who balances stones in the most unbelievable ways in incredibly beautiful places. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Rather than copy someone's work, since I had the day off :) I tried to balance my own pebbles. It was hard!!... but when it worked, it was so much fun :) See the pictures below of some of the ones I was able to capture (before they tumbled down) and my submission tile from one of them. I do need to work on my shading :(</span><br />

Since it is Fall here in New England, I had to go with leaves.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As you know, I've been playing around with gel prints, and have created a few books with them. The idea is to use them as art journals, and go back to each one of those prints and play with them. So... I looked for one of the prints with leaves, and tangled away. I also used Inktense, colored pencils, and black and white pens to transform this print.<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you are interested in seeing more unfinished prints from this art journal, you can see them in the video below. I have actually added a lot more pages after I created the video, but have not redone it. Maybe I will do another in a few months, when I have a few more pages already transformed.</span><br />

Hopefully I will find a bit more time next week :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The challenge this week (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/10/weekly-challenge-239.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to watch the video about how to draw Munchin, and then use it. My tile is a bit bla, but... that's how it turned out :)</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge 238</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge was to learn and use the tangle Tri-bee created by Beate Winkler. You can see the instructions and the challenge <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/10/weekly-challenge-238.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I probably should have practiced it before I grabbed the tile, but... that's the way it goes :). I did have fun with it.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHyRSA_ldnvlT3S5-ISorQuBt4jCTAKFRwnqwQivo49MN785VDm48BCV0hLa2uFnUTNUa3cP9c_cJOi8LUI8K8juKA9fXKobAS3dVcOfUfdvDf5NFu8HmPyoZ7Rh6u4pOGSLjHQK5cxpQ/s1600/diva-challenge-238.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHyRSA_ldnvlT3S5-ISorQuBt4jCTAKFRwnqwQivo49MN785VDm48BCV0hLa2uFnUTNUa3cP9c_cJOi8LUI8K8juKA9fXKobAS3dVcOfUfdvDf5NFu8HmPyoZ7Rh6u4pOGSLjHQK5cxpQ/s400/diva-challenge-238.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Tree Stencil / Mask</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have been thinking for a while that I would like a tree stencil, mainly to play around on the Gel plate. I felt really courageous one afternoon and cut it with an X-acto knife. I wanted to end up with a stencil and a mask, but... when I picked up the stencil, 2 big pieces just fell from it :(. OK, so now I have a tree mask :). Next time I have to be a bit smarter with my design, and not get so close to the other branches. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Still... here are a couple of gel prints I got from a quick session last Sunday.</span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge # 237</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's Diva Challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/09/weekly-challenge-237.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was to use a stencil with a natural dye to create your string. I used one of my own stencils and passion tea on watercolor paper. The tea comes out pink, but it turned to very light purple on the watercolor paper once dry. I will try it on other kinds of paper later and see if it stays pink on any of them. I'm not sure you can actually see any of the color in the picture below; you just have to trust me it is there :)</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Published in 500 Tangled Artworks</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I found out a few weeks ago that some of my work had been published in Beckah Krahula's "500 Tangled Artworks" book (<a href="http://www.amazon.com/500-Tangled-Artworks-Showcase-Illustrated/dp/1592539939/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1443896495&sr=1-1&keywords=500+tangled+artworks" target="_blank">here</a>).</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I was thrilled! I finally got the book and am really enjoying looking through all the amazing artwork. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm very flattered that some of my work was selected to be in the book. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I posted before about all the 6 pieces I have in the book:</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Back Home</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm back home after a month away in Portugal - 2 weeks working and 2 weeks vacationing. I didn't do a lot of travelling, all my free time was spent with my parents, siblings, aunts, nieces and nephews. I had a lot of fun and it felt really good to be with them after 2 years away. I'm now back home although my body still thinks it is in Europe (jet lag can be a pain!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge # 235</span></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After I don't know how many challenges missed, I'm glad to get back to them. This one was so much fun, it was to draw stripes across your tile as a string (you can see the challenge <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/09/weekly-challenge-235.html" target="_blank">here</a>). I decided to go with a simple tile, and I definitely got into a zen state with all of those Paradox tangles :)</span><br />

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge 219</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge is "Straight Lines all the time"; you can see it <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/05/weekly-challenge-219.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I started out by drawing some straight lines across my tile. Somehow the idea in my head was better than it turned out :), but that's OK. So now I had my "string of straight lines" and went through my collection of tangles and chose some with straight lines.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Even though I like each individual tangle, and I really enjoyed drawing them, I'm not happy at all with the tile. I think I should have taken a different approach... maybe next time :)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Envelopes</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here are the envelopes I received back from the <a href="http://martaharveyart.blogspot.com/2015/04/challenge-214-and-envelope-swap.html" target="_blank">Envelope Swap</a> I participated in a few weeks ago. <h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Gelli Session</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have been looking forward to this long weekend so I could spend a couple of hours playing with my Gelli plate and not worry about anything else - great stress reliever :)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So... as usual, I got out some paints, different types of paper, new stencils cut from Tyvek and transparencies, some mark/texture making tools, the Gelli plate, of course.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is what my work area looked like before</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">A few things I wanted to try</span></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">would putting a Tyvek stencil with a hole in the middle be good enough to pass for a round Gelli plate or a smaller size Gelli plate</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Try some of the newly cut stencils</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">print on a napkin layer - to use for collage - the layers are so thin they are supposed to look completely transparent once collaged</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">print on labels - some small and completely transparent, others white with a blue bar across them</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">print on some of the office supplies I got for free when people moved offices at work - tent cards, brochures, and conference / handout folders (they have pockets inside)</span></li>
<li><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">print on tags, and cards I received but would never send to anyone (too boring)</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is what my pile looked like at the end of 3 fun hours (some are printed on both sides):</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And this is what my work space looked like :). I got a comment earlier that I only showed a picture of the organized "before" but should also show the very-messy "after". So... here it is :) Enjoy!!</span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Challenge #218 - White on Black</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This week's challenge was to use a black tile and tangle with white; you can see the challenge <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/05/weekly-challenge-218.html" target="_blank">here</a> along with everyone else's entries.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's been quite a long time since I have done anything on black; one of the reasons is that I always mess up and instead of doing highlights with the pencil at the end, I do "shading" as usual, and it just looks wrong! Today I kept thinking to myself "highlights!", </span><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">"highlights!", </span><span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">"highlights!"... and... it looks completely different than my other ones :). I had fun!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaBua1luIMe2JZPuGzQOlyWIkPSbPTT1wQnEzLM18xZbP9L-VKTVyCnerAg6gonnXEQmHsprjaOnQ_AXtjGmnd9BGScpRMQe6jPmbrfuxlP6-e3Nqfg2KG2hPv3HNeAiGZjVXZhwzcVPA/s1600/diva-challenge-218.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaBua1luIMe2JZPuGzQOlyWIkPSbPTT1wQnEzLM18xZbP9L-VKTVyCnerAg6gonnXEQmHsprjaOnQ_AXtjGmnd9BGScpRMQe6jPmbrfuxlP6-e3Nqfg2KG2hPv3HNeAiGZjVXZhwzcVPA/s400/diva-challenge-218.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<h3>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Updates</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The journal from a file folder I was working on last week... it went through a very, very, very ugly phase. I almost threw it in the trash, but then thought... well if it is trash anyway, let me play with it, it certainly cannot get any worse. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So I went crazy with it :) and now it looks completely different than it did last week, but it is growing on me. Mind you, I'm still not happy with it but hope I will eventually "fix" it. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I did not put all the pages in yet (and just put rubber bands for now), but will finish it in the next few days as we have a long weekend coming up :). Here are some really bad pictures of it right now, just so you can see more or less what it looks like. I will get better pictures when it is done and it is actually light out.</span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I also received the envelopes back from the swap and will try to take pictures and post - most had glitter on them, so I need to do something with that as I don't want glitter everywhere. :)</span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2000007629395px;">This week's challenge (<a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/2015/05/weekly-challenge-217.html" target="_blank">here</a>) was a duo tangle: you can only use Dex and Bunzo tangles. I found it hard, and I'm not sure why... maybe because they are so different I didn't know how to make them work together? Maybe?</span></span><br />
<span style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2000007629395px;"><br /></span></span>

Mind you! I'm having fun, but I don't think it will ever be as "quick and easy" as I thought.</span></span></div>

<span style="color: purple; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-weight: normal; line-height: 18.2000007629395px;">So far, I have folded it and unfolded it about a hundred times ... lol... ok, maybe not quite that many, but... a lot!! I put a couple of coats of gesso on the outside (it was patterned and it had a big purse design on it - you can still see it in some of the pictures). Then I painted it with water soluble wax crayons - I just felt like it, no other particular reason:</span></span></div>

<span style="color: #741b47; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am not going to have much time this week and I wanted to do the challenge, and play a bit in my mini accordion journal I posted about last week (<a href="http://martaharveyart.blogspot.com/2015/04/challenge-215-and-quick-accordion.html" target="_blank">here</a>). So, I decided to do this week's challenge in 2 of the pages - that's why it is so colorful :)</span><br />
